Marketplace integration explained

For some, marketplace integration might be a completely strange concept. For this reason we’d like to open it up for you, and tell what benefits it can bring to online merchants.

Marketplace integration can be explained at its simplest like this: It’s a method of connecting a sales channel (like Amazon or Zalando) and an online shop. It allows for two different platforms to be connected to each other, making data transferrable from one platform to another seamlessly. Best of all, everything can be conveniently controlled from one single platform. So let’s get rid of the complicated multiple platforms with these great marketplace integrations!

Marketplace integrations are based on API keys; these are user- and environment-specific identification keys. They allow for the integrator (external party) to establish a connection between another program and the online shop. Some e-commerce platforms are connected to marketplaces in other ways. For example, Shopify-based online shops are connected to the marketplace by using different Shopify Apps that provide integrations. These things may sound complicated, but actually they aren’t at all.

What are the benefits of marketplace integration?

Many may wonder what benefits these integrations bring to online merchants in general. Most important of all, I would argue, is that it saves a lot of time. Listing products to a marketplace one by one is really time consuming, so why not let the automation handle do it for you? You may focus on more important issues rather than searching solutions online and try to figure out how it should be done.

Another major benefit of using a marketplace integration is that all of the data can be controlled from one platform. Opening up new sales channels without integrations means that you have to work with multiple platforms at the same time. Switching between platforms to manage activities can be a pain. By connecting your online shop straight to marketplace with an integration, all of this hassling will be gone.

Last but not least, marketplace integrations will bring useful data to you. When selling on a marketplace where the customers are from many different countries, it’s really valuable that your product performance and sales metrics are up to date. All of this data will also flow to your online shop when using integration.

There are a lot of benefits, and these are just a few of them. Now that marketplace integrations are a clearer concept to you, why not take advantage of them when opening new sales channels? It is quite pointless to put a lot of time and effort into an issue that can be solved easily and cost-effectively with the help of an outside factor.

At Xales we open up new sales channels easily and instead of API keys, we give you the right keys to a successful sales growth. Let us help you.

Best, Teemu
